55 St James’ Street is a re-developed mixed use building, providing office accommodation and high-end residential units.

Proto Glass Studios was commissioned to manufacture and install two areas of the building; the surround to the main entrance, and the decorative wall of the reception to the office space.

Martin Donlin’s design reflects the history of the area, and includes a variety of former residents in the St James area, including King Charles II and Lord Byron.

The complex design incorporated multiple layers of screen printing etch and opaque ceramic frit, finished with small glass domes bonded to the external surface.

Techniques used: Screen printing; Opaque enamels; Glass bonding; Acid etching
