Also known as kiln-formed glass, slumping is a specialist glass-forming technique where flat glass is heated within a kiln until it softens and gently conforms to a mould. Through a carefully controlled heating and cooling process, the glass takes on the shape, texture and character of the mould, creating unique three-dimensional forms that cannot be achieved with conventional flat glazing.

The versatility of slumped glass allows Proto Glass Studios to create everything from subtle curved surfaces and flowing organic textures to bold sculptural forms and highly detailed architectural features.
By carefully controlling temperature, timing and mould design, we can produce bespoke glass with exceptional depth, movement and light diffusion. Large-Scale Slumped Glass Panels
Within our UK-based studio, we manufacture large slumped glass panels up to 3m x 1.7m in a variety of thicknesses, colours and finishes.
Our slumped glass can also be toughened and/or laminated where required, allowing it to meet safety and performance requirements for demanding architectural applications. This makes it suitable for everything from decorative interior features to large-scale external installations.
