Haverfordwest Tidemarker

Pembrokeshire, UK

Kirsty Brooks

This 4m high spire has been constructed as a homage to the tide and seafaring in this inland port. The images celebrate the areas rich history and industries that previously dominated Haverfordwest.

Utilising our network of steelwork fabricators and glass engineer consultants we were able to offer Kirsty a production solution from beginning to end. Due to the exposed nature of the obelisk, structural calculations were required to ensure that the wind loads were not in excess of what the structure could tolerate.

The tidemarker is located in the Haverfordwest Western Quayside development which aims to drive footfall to the town, support business growth and the wider regeneration of the County town centre. The quayside development is an integral part of Pembrokeshire County Council’s vision to revitalise the Haverfordwest town centre.

The tidemarker is internally illuminated by a light box, programmed to increase and decrease along its length throughout the day in sync with the rising and falling tides.

Glass Specification: 10.8mm laminated, toughened, illuminated glass
